No one has ever walked this planet that was not tempted by the devil. Even Christ was tempted in the wilderness by Satan. Temptation is something that we will face all of our life. For this reason we must learn to resist the many temptations that will come into our lives. We read in Galatians 5:1, “stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.” You may be a dedicated Christian but the devil will always try to get you down. This warfare is what Paul calls in I Timothy 6:12, “the good fight of faith.” Remember you are not alone in your fight against evil. We have Jesus Christ who will give us strength. Never forget that you are a child of God, a joint heir with Jesus and He will help you through everything that comes your way.

If our faith is strong, Satan’s power will be ineffective. The devil knows this and he systematically begins his warfare against your faith. Satan will accuse you of sin, saying that your imperfect life displeases God, no matter how hard you try to please God.

Satan knows that if he can get you to listen to his accusations, you may start to wonder about yourself and even begin to question God. Satan loves to accuse the Christian to get the person to look back at the way they use to be before becoming a Christian. We read in Revelation 8:10 that Satan is, “the accuser of the brethren.”

There is something very important for you and me to remember. The devil accuses us of sin and even tries to get us to question our Christianity. He tries to tell us that we are still unworthy in God’s sight. We all need to say to the devil, “My trust and hope is in the Lord and I have been cleansed by the blood of Jesus Christ.” The devil may be powerful but the Lord is all-powerful and he will help you through whatever the devil throws in your path.

We need to listening to what Peter says in I Peter 5:8-9. He tells us to “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about seeking whom he may devour:  9 Whom resist steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.”

You are not the first person to be tempted and pestered by the devil. Peter is telling us that others of the faith have had their problems and people of faith are still having problems. In Ephesians 6:16 Paul tells us about the importance of the “shield of faith.”

This is the same faith that Jesus told us could move mountains. Faith is the strong shield that will enable us to resist evil.

We read a strong statement about faith in Hebrews 10:23 when he says, “Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; for he is faithful that promised.” We do not have to stumble in our faith. God has promised to give us strength. Never forget that God promises to help us in all situations.

Temptation will always be a part of our life. The Christian is tempted a lot more than the non-believer is because the devil wants to drag down the true believer in Christ. Remember that God promises to always be with us. God not only supplies the armor but he will lead you all the way to victory over Satan. Temptations never cease but with God’s power the Christian will hold firm against anything that comes into his or her life.
